Widdoss Farm
Our Story
Back in April 2014, we took a giant leap of faith (and maybe a little bit of crazy) and bought our very first “farm” — 39 acres in Greenville, Alabama. No family nearby, no circle of friends, just us, a whole lot of dreams, and the wild idea that there had to be more to life than the rat race. What in the world were we thinking?
Turns out, we were onto something. 🌱
There’s nothing quite like the reward of knowing exactly where your food comes from — because you grew it, raised it, harvested it with your own hands. It’s hard work, sure, but it’s the good kind. The kind that fills you up instead of drains you.
And just when we thought we couldn’t dream any bigger… January 2018 rolled around. That’s when we expanded and added another 60+ acres, making our farm a full 100+ acre adventure. More space, more animals, more honeybees, more memories.
We’re still learning, still working, and still chasing that simpler, richer way of living — and we’re so glad you’re here to be part of the story with us. 🐝🚜🌾
Fast forward to September 2020. James walked into the house while I was working and said, “My spirit is telling me it’s time to sell and move to Tennessee.” Now, knowing James the way I do, I didn’t hesitate — I agreed. After all, we’re not getting any younger, and since our family wasn’t moving closer to us, it was time for us to move closer to them.
So off we went to Tennessee, where we stumbled across 70 acres tucked way back in the woods — complete with a double-wide that would give us a place to live until we had time to build a new home. It wasn’t fancy, but it was full of possibility. We signed the papers and closed in October 2020.
Meanwhile, back in Alabama, we put our farm on the market. It took a few tries (three failed contracts to be exact 😅), but in April 2021, we finally closed the chapter on that property and stepped fully into this new Tennessee adventure.
The Move to Tennessee
In April 2021, we finally packed up and made the big move to Sunbright, Tennessee — right smack in the middle of nowhere! The closest grocery store? A solid 35 minutes away. 🚗💨 We’ve got a few neighbors sprinkled around, but the best part is we’re now just 45 mins from family. Close enough to visit often, but far enough that everyone still has their space. 😉
We came here determined to take all the lessons we learned in Alabama and put them to work in Tennessee. We planted a small orchard (I told James 100 trees was too many… but this year we’re definitely missing that fresh fruit 🍑🍎). Lesson learned: never underestimate how much you’ll crave a homegrown peach.
And then there’s the land. We once said — quite confidently — that we would never again convert timberland into pasture. Too expensive. Too much work. Too many years before you see results. But as one wise boss once told me: “Never say never, and always avoid always.” Well… he was right. Because here we are again, chainsaws buzzing and tractors rumbling, slowly but surely turning timberland back into pasture. And let me tell you — it is not fun.
Thanks for being part of our journey. We’re glad you’re here!

Meet James & Beth
Over the years, we’ve called a handful of states “home” — Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama — but these days, our roots are firmly planted in Tennessee. 🌄
At the heart of it all, we keep our priorities simple: God first, our marriage second, and our family third. Every day is an adventure, and we’ve learned that life gives back exactly what you put into it.
We love spending time together, laughing often, and finding joy in the simple things — whether it’s farm chores, family visits, or just sitting on the porch soaking in the view.
And if you’d like to stop by, see what we’re up to, or swap stories, we’d love that! Shoot us an email or give us a call — James especially loves talking to people (seriously, he’s never met a stranger). 🐝☕🚜
